Oh, I noticed the length of time you have been helping people on this forum and the number of responses you have accumulated in that time period. I do hope you will help me again (LOL, laughint outloud here). I know for a fact that I will have other qustions come up if I can't readily find the answers in online documents. You know, you have to be patient with us senior citizens (laughing while typing that comment). I know I must have driven you crazy with some of them! And I can surely understand that but you didn't show any frustration with me in your comments to my questions. Thanks-Yous of Appreciation go out to those who helped me on this site, especially to CherylG.ĬherylG, you have been very patient with me in answering all my questions. Is that why it's still appearing in the HP Support Assistant and can I delete them from there? I used the printed instructions from HP Consumer Support for creating the discs. Why does it say this, when I only created recovery discs?Īlso, on my HP Support Assistant it still says to creat recovery discs in 2 sections, one in "Updates and Tune-ups, HP messages", and the other in "Battery and Performance" section. Is this rreally something one should do?Īlso my Revovery (D:) drive said it was modifed at 10:38 a.m., type folder. I also read in my directions that you may remove the recovery partition on the hard disc to recover additional storage space. But, I think the creation process was okay because every disc burned properly, every disc was verified and message saying something on the line that creation was done. These 2 messages appeared after burning the first disc and subsequent discs and dissapeared before I could respond to them. Both popups had to do with DVD RW Drive E one saying something about tapping to choose what happens with removable drives and another about tapping to see what happens with blank discs. Everything seem to go very smoothly except for a couple of pop-ups during the process.

If HP technitions are not smart enough to create a BIOSflash kit (something the PC industry has been doing for 20 years), they should go home and let Lenovo dominate the market.įor those that have gotten to the end of my Sticky, if there is anything else I can try that has worked please provide a link.Īfter being sick for about 7 days, I was finally able to create my recovery discs on Friday, 1/24. I have to say Dell lost my recomendation with all their popping capacitors, but this is something HP has control over. I see the HP logo at boot, but then screen goes black. Win + B + Power results in a USB flashing for 5 min, but no change to the black screen. SIG files, but seams this is only required for earlier models. I have tried ever available BIOS bin file on my USB stick with HP_TOOLS I have read at least 1 dozen threads were users finally gave up. Is seams there are many p2p users claiming to be HP experts that are givin gbad advise.

I have also read that many users have tried to do a manual BIOS recovery with a USB stick. NONE!!!! Sole exception is if power is cut durring the flash.

There is no reason a BIOS update should brick the BIOS. Personally, with my experiance doing BIOS upgrades (I volunteer with school donation programs) and reading all the complaints I personally think this is a way for HP to get users to get new laptops. There are many posts of similar users who have done the same thing. I have flashed 100's of BIOS, and I have to say this is first on I have bricked. After bricking the BIOS, I found there are many other complaints of similar issues. Last night, I went to flash by Bios using above file on a G56-129WM.
